Apple Pie Smoothie

Recipe by Cornelia Sabrina,  @Cornelia_Sabrina on IG

Here is another recipe for all you smoothie fans, just to prove that you do not need bananas as base of every smoothie. If you love cinnamon flavor, this might be just the one for you. Back home we used to eat tons of recipes with apples as we did have our own apple trees. I recall that I always helped my mother peel the apples. Now thinking back, I realize she was really smart on how she got me to "want" to peel apples. I am super competitive and she told my sister and me that whoever can get the longest peel off of one apple without breaking it wins. She got us to peel those apples in no time!

Apple Pie Smoothie

Recipe makes 1 serving

Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

1 1/2 Gala Apples

1 1/2 scoops TRU Birthday Cake Protein

1/2 tsp Cinnamon

Juice of half a Lemon

1/4 tsp grated Ginger, fresh

1 tsp Honey

1/2 tsp Molasses

1/8 tsp Sea Salt

1 cup Plant Milk, unsweetened

2 cups Ice Cubes

_______________________________

1) Sift protein powder to remove sprinkles (optional, but you can save them for another recipe where you want the sprinkles to be visible).

2) Peel apples and chop into small cubes. In a non stick pan add apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger, honey, molasses and sea salt and roast on high heat until apples are cooked and slightly browned. Put into a bowl and let cool.

3) Meanwhile add the plant milk to the same pan and let it mix with the crusted sugars and spices so we do not waste any flavor.

4) Once everything is cool add everything (apple mixture and left over ingredients) into a high speed blender with tamper tool and blend until thick and smooth texture.

5) Enjoy!
